About Us
Penny Baalman is founder and managing director of GHG Offset Services.
She is widely-recognized as a leading expert on forest project-level greenhouse gas accounting in Australia and internationally.
She has worked exclusively in the area of forest climate change mitigation since 1999, during which time she has taken a leading role in the development of GHG offset programs and standards, projects, methodologies and auditing.
During this time she has developed solutions to numerous complex GHG accounting issues for forest projects.
She is experienced in the investment in forest GHG projects as well as the marketing and trading of forest-based GHG reduction certificates.
GHG Offset Services’ goal is to aid in the design and development of GHG offset programs in relation to their inclusion of forests, to aid in the development of rigorous and workable requirements for GHG accounting, to aid business to understand and maximize opportunities from forest activities and to aid project developers meet the complex requirements of creating forest-based GHG reduction certificates.
